1. Welcome these food items in your diet
Studies have found that following a healthy diet diligently will definitely have a profound effect on the health of the sperm. Some of the best foods for your sperm are:
a) Banana
b) Spinach
c) Eggs
d) Walnuts
e) Garlic
f) Drumstick
g) Pomegranate
h) Ashwagandha
i) Sweet potato
k) Carrot
2. Men! Try to avoid these foods
If you are really serious about your sperm health and looking forward to indulging in some diaper changing sessions, then you need to reduce the consumption of these food items:
a) Aerated drinks
b) Processed meat
c) Alcohol
d) Caffeine
e) Any junk food
3. Pop a few vitamins
There are a number of vitamin supplements that can help improve male fertility. Make a habit of taking a multivitamin with folic acid, zinc, vitamin A, C, D & E daily after consulting your health-care provider.
4. Kick the butt
Although it is not known what effects smoking has on male fertility, but if you stop smoking it will definitely improve your overall health and also your life expectancy.
5. Ditch the hot bath
Do you enjoy spending more time under the hot shower or in the sauna? That may be the reason for your low sperm count. So protect your sperms from high temperature to stay healthy!
6. Say no to tight fitting clothes
Well, tight-fitting clothes may do wonders to your looks but do you know it may harm your sperm health? Yes, you heard it right! Wearing tight boxers, trousers or jeans may heat up the scrotum leading to reduced sperm quality.
7. Shed those flabs
Obesity not all brings a plethora of diseases but might also lead to a delayed conception. Increased BMI is also associated with low sperm counts and infertility. Regular exercise or a moderate walk of minimum 30 minutes is ideal to have a healthy life.
8. Say goodbye to stress
Infertility is itself stressful and if you add on your daily stress, it will give a deadly cocktail. So relax, meditate, do yoga and sleep well and especially on proper time for at least 7-8 hours.
9. Look where you place your cell phone or laptop
Do you love sitting on a bean bag chair and working by keeping your laptop on your lap? If yes, then you should stop it right away. This is because the heat generated by your laptop on your lap may be associated with negative effects on your sperm. This goes for your mobile phones as well.
10. Reduce chemical exposure
Your sperm quality can also degrade if you are continuously exposed to various chemicals, plastics, industrial pollutants etc. So avoid:
a) Plastic containers for food storage, plastic bottles, wraps and utensils
b) Use only non-bleached napkins and toilet tissue
c) Try avoid synthetic deodorants and cosmetics
11. Aim to have sex daily especially during the period of Ovulation
Never give up! It is advisable to have sex regularly especially during your partner’s fertile period. If you ejaculate regularly, chances of oxidative damage of the stored sperms in your epididymis will be less thereby ensuring ejaculation of newly-produced sperm of better quality.
12. Check your medication
If you are on some kind of medications like those for hair growth, muscle growth, fungal infection and drugs for cancer, your sperm count may be severely impaired. Consult your doctor as fertility can be affected by various medications especially chemotherapy and steroids.
Lastly, just relax and take a deep breath. Set aside time for you and your partner to relax and believe that something wonderful is about to happen.
