Sweating as we all know plays an important role in maintaining the body temperature. Our body produces approximately 1 liter of sweat a day. Sweating is good so far it’s not producing a pungent odor. A problem arises when it starts to smell strong. The sweat which cools the body is secreted by eccrine glands and the one that causes strong odor is secreted by apocrine glands. The substance secreted by apocrine gland is what the bacteria love and therefore they grow more in these areas causing body odor. These glands are located under arms and in the groin area, making them the vulnerable areas for excessive sweating and sometimes the bad odor.

How to remove body odor permanently naturally?

Here are some simple and effective home remedies for body odor :

1 . Maintain Adequate Hygiene

Shave your armpits regularly. The hairs present causes entrapment of bacteria and sweat. The more the bacteria, the stronger the smell. Always take a bath after you come home from the gym. It is also important to wash the clothes properly since the bacteria also gets trapped in them and would not go away if not cleaned properly.

2 . Eat Right

Green food is not just good for the health, but also good for the body odor. The green vegetables such as spinach have a powerful de-odorizing effect. This effect is due to the presence of chlorophyll. Minimise the intake of processed food and move over to green vegetables.

3 . Use Benzoyl Peroxide

Its antibacterial property makes it useful to ward off the body odor. You can take a bath of benzoyl peroxide solution. The concentration of the solution should be less than 10%. Otherwise, you can also try a solution of hydrogen peroxide. It has the same antibacterial property. Wipe off the underarms with a cloth soaked in peroxide solution just after your bath. The solution should be prepared by adding a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to a cup of water.

4 . Use An Antiperspirant

Always apply the antiperspirant when you are ready to hit the bed. It won’t be of much use if you apply it in the morning just after a bath. It will eventually be washed away with your sweat. At night the antiperspirant will get enough time to act. They reduce sweating. Don’t assume deodorants to be the same as antiperspirants. Deodorants only mask the odor, whereas antiperspirant controls excess sweating.

5 . Use An Antibacterial Soap

While bathing, wait for few minutes after you apply soap. Let the soap sit on your skin and then rinse. Dry completely after you’re done.

6 . Wear Light Clothes

The armpit is the main culprit for body odor. It is surrounded by chest and arms, therefore, making it difficult for the sweat to evaporate. Lighter and loose fitting clothes allow air to flow through and the heat of the body is lost easily. Try not to wear tight clothes when you are exercising or hitting the gym.
