Common causes of this illness are microbial infection through contaminated eats and drinks, food poisoning and certain medications.While there are over the counter medicines aplenty for this condition, nothing works for the tummy like the following foods:
Methi Seeds
If you are suffering from diarrhea, chew on half a teaspoonful of methi seeds thrice a day. The high mucilage content of methi relieves the symptoms of diarrhea like watery stool and abdominal cramps.
Ginger
This aromatic root is a well-known cure of diarrhea. Grated ginger root needs to be eaten with honey or even ginger tea can be had 2-3 times a day for relief. Ginger treats infections and eases abdominal pain to a great extent.
Bananas
During my childhood years, mom or granny would feed us bananas to cure diarrhea. Bananas have high pectin content and the pectin being a water-soluble fiber goes a long way in firming up watery stool. Have one twice a day for best results.
Carrots
Due to their high content of dietary fiber, vitamins and essential minerals carrots are considered to be very effective in treating watery stool and abdominal pain during diarrhea. Prepare carrot soup with water and drink thrice a day.
Yogurt
Yogurt, especially the variety prepared at home contains live bacteria cultures that protect our intestines and improve digestion. Eating two bowlfuls of yogurt a day during bouts of diarrhea fights infections in the stomach and shows considerable improvement within hours.
Chamomile Tea
This variety of herbal tea is revered the world over for its medicinal properties. Drinking chamomile tea results in relief from intestinal cramps and inflammation of the stomach during diarrhoea. Have it 3-4 times a day.
White Rice
Plain white rice has a calming and cooling effect over our body that helps a lot when we are suffering from diarrhea. Eating a bowlful twice a day will put a stop to the frequent loo trips and ease abdominal pain to a great extent.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Try a couple of teaspoonful of apple cider when your tormentor is any stomach-related ailment. It boasts of a bevy of anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and will help relieve most, if not all symptoms of diarrhea.
Try these easy remedies to treat diarrhea. Remember to drink plenty of fluids and rest for a day or two for complete recovery. However, if the symptoms persist or worsen over the next 24 hours, it is best to consult a doctor immediately.
