Here are some foods that you should include in your daily diet regimen this winter to help fight cold in a natural and healthy way.
Omega 3 rich foods
- Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids help fight allergies.
- These include walnuts, flax seeds, soya beans, pumpkin seeds, spinach, eggs and fish.
- Flaxseeds also contain selenium, a mineral that can help reduce an allergic response.
Quercetin rich foods
- Quercetin, a flavonoid found in some foods, is believed to help reduce the inflammation associated with allergies.
- It is thought that Quercetin prevents immune cells from releasing histamines, or an allergic response.
- Apples, onions, berries, cabbage, cauliflower and tea all contain quercetin.
Vitamin C rich foods
- Vitamin C is thought to help control allergy symptoms.
- It is always best to get vitamin C from foods, not supplements.
- Oranges, guavas, kiwis, strawberries, red and yellow peppers, broccoli, tomatoes are some of the foods best known for their vitamin C content.
Magnesium rich foods
- Foods rich in magnesium are believed to help control allergies.
- It also opens up and relaxes the muscles which can be beneficial in an allergic condition.
- High-magnesium foods include dark leafy greens, beans, pulses, nuts and whole grains.
