Pregnant women should choose to have a healthy and balanced diet than only opting for supplements for a healthy pregnancy, study reveals
-Researchers in South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, conducted a study to evaluate the benefits conferred by fish oil supplements during pregnancy.
-The study included data of close to 2,500 pregnant women over a span of 10 years and revealed that taking fish oil supplements during pregnancy did not improve the babies’ intelligence.
-Instead as per the study, it slightly elongated the duration of the pregnancy. Enrolled pregnant mothers were followed up for their experiences from their pregnancy till the time their children turned seven.
-The researchers stated that a healthy and balanced diet would rather help in the proper development of the baby than opting for fish oil supplements.
-Findings were published in the Journal of American Medical Association
