Premature babies at an increased risk for mental problems such as depression and anxiety till their 30s, research suggests.
-The study involved meta-analysis of close to 41 studies over a period of 27 years that included 2,712 individuals with extremely low birth weights and 11,127 individuals with normal birth weights.
-The studies were conducted from 1990 to 2016 in different countries of North America, Europe or Australia.
-The study suggested that premature babies were at an increased risk of developing mental problems such as depression and anxiety in their later years (30s).
-The common difficulties observed in the attentional control, anxiety related problems and social interaction problems such as social withdrawal.
-Findings were published in journal Psychological Bulletin.
