Making news all over, New Delhi’s Air pollution has reached staggering numbers post the Diwali celebrations this year. The numbers have surpassed the numbers recorded in the previous years.
-Studies suggest, that unfortunately, India as a country also records six times the pollution levels that are considered to be permissible.
-WHO suggests, PM 2.5 (particulate matter) value of 35 or above have been found to be associated with a 15% increased risk of long term mortality.
-Recorded as the 11th worst polluted city of the world, Delhi recorded PM 2.5 values (average) close to 122.
-As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average Air Quality Index (AQI) for New Delhi and NCR was recorded close to 432 at the beginning of the week.
