People who used public transport for their daily commute were at eight times the risk of getting exposed to pollution compared to the others, suggests research
-In the study, conducted by the University of Surrey, a comparison was done to evaluate how the commuters who used buses, cars and underground transport were exposed to a wide range of pollutants.
-Surprisingly, those who used the buses for daily transport were exposed to high levels of black carbon and particles than the car users.
-People travelling via underground trains were significantly exposed to high concentration of pollutants. On the contrast, people who traveled in their own cars were less exposed to pollutants.
-Findings were published in the journal The Environment International
