Recent research reinforces that the use of contraceptive pills significantly reduces the quality of life and well-being in healthy women.
-A double-blind randomised placebo-controlled trial found that women who took common birth control pill containing ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel for three months reported of reduced quality of life, mood and physical well-being.
-The study included about 340 healthy women aged between 18 and 35 years and were randomly given placebo or contraceptive pills over a three-month period.
-The subjects were also made to fill two well-known surveys on general well-being and depressive symptoms before and after the study.
-It was observed that women who were given contraceptive pills showcased decreased quality of life, however, fortunately, did not show depressive symptoms.
-Findings were published in the journal Fertility and Sterility.
