Adequate intake of Vitamin D may not only help to strengthen the bones but also to keep away the respiratory infections, a recent study reveals.
-The study, conducted by the Queen Mary University of London, was focused on evaluating the effect of Vitamin D on averting respiratory infections such as colds and flu.
-The study included data from about 11,000 participants in 25 clinical trials conducted across 14 countries including the UK, USA, Japan, India, Afghanistan, Belgium, Italy, Australia and Canada.
-The study suggested that vitamin D supplements could provide protection against acute respiratory infections including colds and flu.
-The study was conducted by a consortium of 25 investigators from 21 institutions worldwide and funded by the National Institute for Health Research.
