Women may have different heart attack symptoms than men, sometimes occurring at rest or during sleep. Emotional stress can also be a trigger.

While chest pain is common, women are more likely to have subtler symptoms, which can sometimes be mistaken for other conditions.  Here are some signs to watch out for:

Though chest pain is the most recognized symptom, women may describe it as pressure or tightness. In some cases, there might be no chest pain at all.

Women are more likely to feel pain in their neck, jaw, shoulders, upper back, or even upper stomach, instead of the classic chest pain.
