Bronchitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which are the air passages that carry air to the lungs. It can be acute or chronic.

The most common cause of acute bronchitis is viral infections, often stemming from respiratory viruses like influenza (flu) or the common cold (rhinovirus).
