Delhi government hospitals are on high alert for Mpox (Monkeypox) with new isolation protocols in place.

Four Delhi hospitals—LNJP, AIIMS, GTB, and Baba Saheb Ambedkar—have been directed to establish isolation rooms for monkeypox cases.

LNJP (Lok Nayak Jai Prakash) will have 20 isolation rooms: 10 for confirmed cases and 10 for suspected cases. It is designated as the nodal facility.

Both GTB (Guru Teg Bahadur) and Baba Saheb Ambedkar hospitals will each have 10 isolation rooms, with 5 allocated for suspected cases.

AIIMS Delhi has issued monkeypox treatment guidelines focusing on isolation with proper ventilation and protective gear. It has also set aside 5 isolation beds for potential cases, ensuring preparedness for the outbreak.

The WHO has declared Monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Since 2022, there have been over 99,000 cases globally, with 208 deaths reported.

India has reported 30 Mpox cases since 2022, with the most recent case detected in March 2024.

Patients must be isolated in separate rooms with individual ventilation. They should wear triple-layer masks and cover lesions. Isolation continues until all lesions heal.
