Tanning and sunburns both signal UV damage from sun exposure. Despite tans appearing healthy, they indicate skin harm.

Let's look at how you can protect yourself from UV damage and maintain healthy skin:

Tanning is the skin's defense, producing melanin to protect against UV rays and darken the skin. Sunburn, marked by redness, pain, and peeling, indicates excessive UV exposure and skin damage.

Apply SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen to exposed skin. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating, to maintain protection against UV damage

Minimize sun exposure, especially from morning 10 to 4 pm. Try to seek shade under umbrellas, trees to reduce UV exposure and prevent sunburn and skin damage.

Shield your eyes from UV damage with sunglasses. Seek pairs labeled "UV400" or "100% UV protection" for sufficient defense against harmful radiation.

Drink plenty of water to prevent skin dehydration and susceptibility to sunburn and UV damage. Aim for at least eight glasses of water daily, particularly during outdoor activities.
