Tanning is the skin's defense, producing melanin to protect against UV rays and darken the skin. Sunburn, marked by redness, pain, and peeling, indicates excessive UV exposure and skin damage.

Drink plenty of water to prevent skin dehydration and susceptibility to sunburn and UV damage. Aim for at least eight glasses of water daily, particularly during outdoor activities.
