Vitamin D: What is the right time to get sunlight during summers?

Vitamin D is called the “Sunshine Vitamin” for a reason! But the summer heat begs the question. When is the best time to get sunlight?

Vitamin D provides: -Strong bones -Immunity -Mood balance -Note: Your body naturally creates its own Vitamin D when open to Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from the sun.

Why Vitamin D is Important?

For summer, the best time to absorb Vitamin D is from 7 AM to 9 AM. This time provides enough opportunity to absorb UVB rays without the harsh exposure of sun rays.

Morning is Best

From 10 AM to 3 PM, the UV rays are concentrated and can cause: -Sunburn -Skin aging -Higher risk of skin reckonings

Avoid It in Peak Afternoon Hours

Around 10-20 minutes during morning sunshine should adequately expose to arms, face, or legs. For dark-skinned individuals, a little longer exposure may be required and helpful.

How Much Sun-Exposure is Needed?

On cloudy or polluted days, try to catch a few minutes of sun when possible, or consider Vit D supplements!

Sunscreen during the absorbable Vitamin D time isn't required, but immediately afterward, sunscreen should be applied to minimize risk from prolonged UV exposure.
