Description of Excessive hair growth

Excessive hair growth can either be hypertrichosis or hirsutism. In hypertrichosis, there is an abnormal amount of hair growth anywhere on the body of an individual. Hirsutism is a condition seen in some women due to an increased level of male hormones (androgens). In this condition, there is growth of excessive or unwanted coarse, dark hair in areas like chin, above the lip, chest, abdomen, etc. where women typically grow vellus hair (very fine and light hair) or no hair.
