Understanding Doppler Venous Left Lower Limb
What is Doppler Venous Left Lower Limb?
Venous Doppler Left Lower Limb is a radiological investigation which uses reflected sound waves to see how blood flows through a blood vessel in the left leg. It helps clinicians evaluate the blood flow through major veins of the lower limb such as the calf and foot. It is commonly used to look for blood clots in the veins of the leg to diagnose a condition known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
It is a noninvasive test that is a safe and painless procedure in which a probe known as a transducer and gel is placed on the skin. High-frequency sound waves are passed through the probe and the waves which bounce back are captured and displayed as images helping to evaluate the blood flow.
