Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease caused by Leptospira bacteria. These bacteria are spiral in shape, which is reflected in their name. In humans, this disease spreads through direct or indirect contact with urine of infected animals in contaminated water or soil. 

The Leptospira Antibody, IgG test helps identify IgG antibodies, typically produced by the immune system during the later stages of leptospirosis infection or after an individual has recovered from the infection. Unlike IgM antibodies, which appear early, IgG antibodies indicate previous or prolonged exposure and may remain detectable for months or years.

Leptospirosis causes symptoms like high grade fever, sudden headache, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, and muscle pain. These flu-like symptoms often lead to misdiagnosis as dengue, hepatitis, or regular flu.
