X - Ray Both Ankle (Anteroposterior) AP view is used to visualise the bones of the ankle and the soft tissues (skin and muscles) surrounding it. The ankle consists of three bones - tibia and fibula (bones of the lower leg), and talus (one of the foot bones). When a chest x-ray is taken with the back against the film plate and the x-ray machine in front of the patient it is called an anteroposterior (AP) view.
