X - Ray Dorso-Lumbar (DL) Spine LAT View

The Lumbar Vertebrae are the five vertebral bones situated at the bottom of the spine. The majority of backaches may be traced to this location in the lower back. A doctor will order an X-ray if a patient complains of recurrent back problems. X-rays are high-frequency radioactive rays that can reflect a picture of the bones when transmitted through the body. They are either of AP (top to bottom) or a Lateral (side to side) view.

The X-ray will reveal any anomalies, injuries, fractures, suspected disc problems like spondylolisthesis, arthritis causing the symptoms. If a problem is found, more tests may be ordered to provide a complete diagnosis. A dorso-lumbar spine X-ray is performed while in a lying position and does not need any special preparation.
