Gokshuradi Guggulu
Gokshuradi Guggulu is an important classical polyherbal formulation used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. It is a mixture of several herbs each having different beneficial properties. It contains Gokshura as the main ingredient. Gokshura is rich in potassium which helps in preventing the formation of kidney stones (Urolithiasis). This is due to its lithotriptic (stone dissolving) and diuretic (urine increasing) properties[1]. Guggulu adds value to the process by multiplying the effect as it also provides diuretic action, providing relief from inflammation and pain. It has Lekhana (scraping) property which is beneficial in removing stones[1].
According to Ayurveda, Gokshuradi Guggulu has Mutral property (diuretics) which helps to remove kidney stones from the body. This property also helps to expel excess uric acid from the body, thereby providing relief from the symptoms of gout. It is also used for the treatment of various chronic diseases like diabetes[2]. Furthermore, it shows beneficial results in preventing diabetes-related complications like diabetic nephropathy. It works by improving renal functions and avoiding damage to kidney tissues[3].
Oral intake of Gokshuradi Guggulu is considered safe. Studies on Gokshuradi Guggulu show no sign of toxicity when taken orally[2].

Benefits of Gokshuradi Guggulu
1. Urolithiasis (Kidney stone)
Urolithiasis is the formation of stones in the bladder or urinary tract. According to Ayurveda, it is known as Mutrashmari. Mutrashmari (renal calculi) is a condition that occurs due to an imbalance of Vata and Kapha dosha. This imbalance of doshas causes Sanga (obstruction) in Mutravaha Srotas (urinary system) and leads to problems in micturition (the process of urination). Gokshuradi Guggulu helps manage urolithiasis due to its Mutral (diuretic) property which helps increase urine flow and reduce the formation of stones. It also helps in the easy expulsion of existing stones via urine by increasing urine production.
Tip
-Take 1-2 tablets of Gokshuradi Guggulu or as directed by the physician
-Have it with lukewarm water once or twice a day, preferably after meals

2. Dysuria (Painful Urination)
Dysuria is a symptom of urinary tract infection wherein an individual suffers from painful or difficult urination. According to Ayurveda, this condition can occur due to an imbalance of any of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha). Gokshuradi Guggulu increases urine production and thus provides relief from painful urination due to its Tridosha (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) balancing and Mutral (diuretic) properties.
3. Gouty Arthritis
Gouty arthritis is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by a buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints. It can be identified as severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness, and tenderness in one or more joints. Gokshuradi Guggulu helps to reduce the symptoms of gout when taken regularly. In Ayurveda, gout is known as Vatarakta. This is because the main dosha involved with this condition is Vata, and the effect of this condition is on Rakta (blood).
