Revand Chini
Revand Chini is a perennial herb (Rheum emodi) and belongs to the family Polygonaceae. Dried rhizomes of this plant is pungent and bitter in taste and are used for its medicinal properties. It contains protein, fat, fibre, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, phosphorous, iron and vitamin C. The chief chemical constituent of this herb are raponticin and chrysophanic acid, which are present in high quantity in rhizomes and are responsible to control constipation (difficulty in passing stool), diarrhoea, children’s ailments and are also used to lower the symptoms of rheumatism (inflammation and pain in the joints, muscles), gout, epilepsy (neurological disorder) etc[1].
