Behavioural disturbance can result from a number of psychological reasons and often similar psychological issues can manifest as different behavioural issues. Depressive thoughts may lead to quiet/ withdrawn or agitated/ aggressive behaviour. Psychotic thought process may similarly manifest as absent mindedness, self smiling, self talking, angry or irritable behaviour, poor self care etc. Mood Disorder is manifested as impulsivity, distractibility, indecisiveness, high risk behaviour, sleep disturbance etc. Psychiatric evaluation is based on history, clinical symptoms, personality factors, ongoing psychosocial stressors and frequency and severity of symptoms. It requires direct interaction with the patient on a regular basis. Once diagnosed, a management plan is formed based on intensity and frequency of symptoms and associated biological and psycho social factors. I suggest you to visit a psychiatrist in your vicinity for clinical evaluation.
