Product introduction

Acitrom 0.5 Tablet is an oral anticoagulant that helps prevent harmful blood clots in the legs, lungs, brain, and heart. It is used for deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and stroke prevention.

Acitrom 0.5 Tablet should be taken as advised by the doctor. You may take it with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time. This medicine should not be stopped abruptly without consulting the doctor. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It is preventing future harm.

Use of this medicine may increase your risk of bleeding. Let your doctor know immediately if you see a pinpoint rash or blood in your vomits, urine, or stool. If you are going under any surgery or dental treatment, you may need to stop this medicine for some time but only after consulting with your doctor.

Before taking it, you must inform the doctor if you are suffering from any kidney or liver disease. Also, let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and about all the other medications that you are taking regularly.

Acitrom 0.5 Tablet is an oral anticoagulant. It acts by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it inhibits them from growing larger and causing serious problems.

Im PATIENT 32 male . i had CVT problems from 2005 onwards. I took acitrom for the past 11 years. After doctor took a blood test Genetic test ) told to stop actirom. within 14 days of stopping acitrom i got heart attack. angiogram done for me and find that , there is a clot in heart and its cleared by aggriblock medicine. Cholestrol are in normal level for me. Also a new problems find that, diabetes for me. one year before i took glucose test, all are in normal level. I want to know that, what are the foods i have to eat and which one i have to avoid? what are the things i have to follow for my future. How long do I need to take Acitrom 0.5 Tablet?

You should continue taking Acitrom 0.5 Tablet for as long as recommended by your doctor. Depending upon the condition you are being treated for, you may have to take it for several months or years or maybe for the rest of your life.

What should I avoid while taking Acitrom 0.5 Tablet?

You should avoid alcohol while taking Acitrom 0.5 Tablet as alcohol may interfere with working of Acitrom 0.5 Tablet. In addition to that, avoid cranberry juice or other cranberry products as there may be a risk of enhanced blood thinning. Avoid breastfeeding or getting pregnant as it may harm your child.

Do I need to stop Acitrom 0.5 Tablet if I have to undergo a surgery?

Depending on the type of surgery that is to be performed, your doctor will tell you whether to continue or stop Acitrom 0.5 Tablet. It will be decided by your doctor after weighing the risks and benefits of discontinuing Acitrom 0.5 Tablet.

Is Acitrom 0.5 Tablet same as warfarin?

Both Acitrom 0.5 Tablet and warfarin are blood thinners, but they have some differences. Warfarin has a more stable blood thinning effect.

It takes a little longer for Acitrom 0.5 Tablet to start working. On an average, it may take 2-3 days for Acitrom 0.5 Tablet to show its blood-thinning effect. For these 2-3 days, heparin may be used and then discontinued.

What if I forget to take a dose?

If you forget to take a dose of Acitrom 0.5 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose and continue your normal schedule. Keep a diary or set a reminder, so that you do not forget it often.

What monitoring is required while taking Acitrom 0.5 Tablet?

The bleeding times should be carefully monitored from 2nd or 3rd dose of Acitrom 0.5 Tablet and till the clotting status is stabilized. Thereafter, the bleeding time can be monitored monthly. This frequency may be more in elderly.
