Azelast Nasal Spray belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. It is used to treat sneezing, runny or stuffy nose caused by allergies (allergic rhinitis).

Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely for using Azelast Nasal Spray in the nose. It is used as a nasal spray, so never consume it orally. You should use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Before using it, inform your doctor if you have an infection, injury, or ulceration on the inside of the nose.

It may cause nasal irritation and a bitter taste in some people. However, these are temporary and resolve with time. If they do not go away and you are bothered by these side effects, let your doctor know.

  • Be cautious while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication as it may cause increased sleepiness.
  • Stop taking Azelast Nasal Spray at least 3 days before taking an allergy test as it can affect the test results.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Azelast with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Concurrent use may cause increased sleepiness. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms of Thalidomide side effects such as drowsiness, excessive sedation, tiredness... More
Azelastine may reduce the efficacy of Dalteparin. Your doctor may frequently monitor your blood clotting time.
Azelastine may block the action of Betahistine. Use Azelastine with Betahistine only if prescribed by your doctor.
Concurrent use may cause imapiarment of alertness. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration or alertness until you know how the medicines affect you.
