Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup
Prescription Required
Product introduction
Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup is a potent antibiotic that effectively treats bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, lungs, skin, soft tissues, bones, joints, abdomen, and urinary tract in children. It also prevents infection after surgeries and animal or human bite wounds.
Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup can be given either before or after meals but giving it with food improves absorption and reduces the chances of stomach upset in your child. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is already time for the next dose.
This medicine may have some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergy. These episodes should start receding after a few doses. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.
Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

How Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup works
Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid. Cefuroxime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate Cefuroxime. Addition of Clavulanic Acid reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefuroxime against bacteria.

FAQs
My child is underweight and is not growing as per his age. Is it safe to give Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup?
Use Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup with caution as it may be associated with blood clotting problems especially in children who are underweight and not growing adequately. This risk is further increased if the child has underlying liver and kidney disease. Consult your child’s doctor in such cases.
My child is suffering from a seizure disorder. Can I give Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup may cause seizure activity, particularly in children who have kidney disease. So, Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup should be used with caution in children with a history of seizure disorder. If seizures occur, discontinue Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup and visit your child’s doctor right away.
What if I give too much of Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup by mistake?
An extra dose of Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.
For how long do I need to give Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Give Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup for as long as advised by the doctor. Usually, it takes 3 to 5 days for the infection to start improving. However, you must still finish the full course of the medicine and never stop it abruptly by yourself as that may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup?
Some serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup?
Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup ?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Does a common cold caused by viruses always result in a secondary bacterial infection? When to start an antibiotic to prevent infection?
In most cases, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics to treat viral infections may instead lead to side effects without benefiting your child's health. Hence, you must give antibiotics to your child only after consulting with your child’s doctor.
Can Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup impact my child’s digestion?
Antibiotics kill the infection-causing bacteria, but while doing this they may affect the good bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, your child may develop diarrhea or some other infections as well. Moreover, children have a more sensitive stomach than adults, so the likelihood of developing a stomach upset is more. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Cefuroz CV Dry Syrup, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
