Prescription Required

Product introduction

Claribate 125mg Tablet DT is an antibiotic medication. It is given to children to treat a wide range of bacterial infections targeting the ear, throat, teeth, lungs, heart, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. It also helps treat bacterial infections that can occur in children with HIV due to their weak immune systems.

Claribate 125mg Tablet DT is also effective against some infections (e.g., MAC or Mycobacterium avium complex) seen in people with reduced immunity. It stops the bacteria from growing, which helps to resolve your symptoms and cure your infection. This medicine is taken orally, preferably either one hour before or 2 hours after a meal. No antacids should be taken within 2 hours of taking this medicine. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

Common side effects with this medicine include diarrhea, nausea, abnormal taste, indigestion, abdominal pain, headache, vomiting, and rash. These are usually temporary and subside with the completion of treatment. Consult your doctor if you find these side effects do not resolve or persist for a longer duration.

Inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy or heart problems before taking this medicine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine.

FAQs

Q. In what dose should I give Claribate 125mg Tablet DT to my child?

The dose of Claribate 125mg Tablet DT will be prescribed depending upon the kind of infection, its severity, and your child’s age and body weight. Hence, altering it by yourself may cause side effects or make Claribate 125mg Tablet DT ineffective. In fact, if you give the medicine in the prescribed dose, time, and way, your child may start showing improvement after a few regular doses. But, make sure to complete the full course without stopping the medicine abruptly as doing so may make your child sick again. Also, the remaining bacteria might become resistant to the Claribate 125mg Tablet DT. Thus, following the prescribed treatment course is important and stressed upon for every medicine.

Q. What if I give an overdose of Claribate 125mg Tablet DT by mistake?

Claribate 125mg Tablet DT is unlikely to cause any harm if an extra dose is given by mistake. But, it is important to be careful because overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition. So, if you think you have given too much of Claribate 125mg Tablet DT to your child, it will be wise to speak to a doctor immediately.

Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Claribate 125mg Tablet DT?

Claribate 125mg Tablet DT can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Claribate 125mg Tablet DT. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Claribate 125mg Tablet DT ?

The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests, liver function tests, and baseline ECG on a periodic basis to keep a check on your child’s condition.

Use Claribate 125mg Tablet DT with caution in children with neuromuscular disorders like Myasthenia gravis as it may cause exacerbation of symptoms and even onset of some new symptoms.

Q. How can the bacteria develop resistance against Claribate 125mg Tablet DT?

Using Claribate 125mg Tablet DT when your child does not need it will give the bacteria an opportunity to adapt to the medicine and develop ways to escape the medicine’s effects. This will make the medicine ineffective when your child actually needs it. Usually, when this happens, people say that the child has become resistant to the antibiotic, but in reality, it is the opposite. It is actually the bacteria that have become resistant to the treatment.
