Benefits of Desferal Injection

In Iron overload

Iron overload, as the name suggests, means excess of iron in the human body. Too much iron can cause organ damage, which can lead to conditions such as cancer, irregular heartbeat and cirrhosis of the liver. Symptoms are related to conditions that arise from iron overload such as high blood sugar levels (diabetes), darkening of the skin, abnormal heart rhythm or arthritis. By using Desferal 500mg Injection, this excess of iron can be decreased to safe levels by removing it from the body through stools. This helps to reduce the risk of organ damage and prevents further complications. Desferal 500mg Injection is given by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit.

Hello doctor I have thallassemia major since birth and due to iron overload of repetitive blood transfusion i have diagnosed with diabetes 3 yr ago -at the time of diabetes diagnosis my sugar level is 650 mg/dl. Now according to my case what could be the state of my diabetes type 1 or type 2 ?
Dr. Amit Modi
Paediatrics
Hello, Diabetes in thalassaemia is thought to be caused mainly by iron overload, from repeated blood transfusions, damaging the pancreas. Insulin secretion may be reduced, possibly because iron is directly toxic to the insulin producing pancreatic ?-cells. So it is type 1 DM .

Dear Sir Thank you for sharing your reports with me. It shows the following important things: 1. your iron level is low, for this you can have a diet rich in lots of iron like jaggery, spinach, leafy vegetables etc. Your vitamin D level is low, for this you can have calcirol sachet in milk once a week for at least 6 weeks. Your glycosylated hemoglobin and average blood glucose level is high, you should consult your doctor for this for the review of treatment.
