Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is used for treating acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, and some other stomach conditions associated with excessive acid production.
You should take Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR as your doctor advises. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but it should be the lowest dose for the shortest amount of time needed to treat your condition. It should be given as an injection into the vein by a healthcare professional. It may take up to a few weeks to work properly but your doctor will tell you how long you need to be taking it for. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. If you are taking this medicine for a long time, your doctor may carry out regular tests to check your levels of magnesium which can fall with this medicine.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and feeling or being sick. These tend to be mild but talk to your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. The risk of side effects may increase the longer you take this medicine. Serious side effects are rare, but some need immediate medical attention. Ask your doctor what these are. You may be more likely to have a broken bone if you take it for a long time. It is best to avoid foods that seem to make your symptoms worse, such as rich, spicy and fatty foods. It also helps to cut down on caffeinated drinks, such as tea, coffee and cola, as well as alcohol.
Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR is not suitable for some people. Before taking this medicine, you need to tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems, are taking medicines for HIV, have had an allergic reaction to similar medicines in the past or have osteoporosis. Alcohol does not interfere with the way Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR works. However, drinking alcohol makes your stomach produce more acid than normal. This medicine can make you feel dizzy, sleepy, or affect your vision. If this happens, do not drive, cycle or use machinery or tools until you feel better. It is not usually recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Heartburn and acid reflux happens when a muscle above your stomach relaxes too much and allows stomach contents and acid to come back up into your esophagus and mouth. Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. It reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes and relieves the pain associated with heartburn and acid reflux. You can increase the efficiency of the medicine by making certain lifestyle changes. These include avoiding foods that trigger the symptoms, eating smaller more frequent meals, losing weight if you are overweight.

For how long should I take Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR?
Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR should be used as prescribed by your doctor for different duration and dosage as per your underlying condition and the response to treatment. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit. Depending on the illness you are being treated for, you may need it for a short term, or long term. How does Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR work for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease?
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) happens when high acid secretion in your stomach enters your food pipe (esophagus) and causes a burning feeling in chest (heartburn) or throat, sour taste or burping. Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR acts by decreasing the acid produced in the stomach and relieves the symptoms of GERD.
Can Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?
Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR can cause osteoporosis (thinning of bones) as it decreases the calcium absorption leading to calcium deficiency. This leads to an increased risk of bone fractures on long-term use, like hip, wrist or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids (these can increase the risk of osteoporosis) before starting your therapy. Consult your doctor on ways to prevent this. Your doctor may advise you calcium or vitamin D supplements to reduce the risk.
Can Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR cause diarrhea?
Yes, Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR may cause diarrhea as a side effect in some people. This is usually not bothersome, but if you experience persistent watery stools that do not go away, along with stomach cramps and fever, get medical help immediately. These symptoms are most likely because of the overgrowth of harmful bacteria called C. difficile and the diarrhea is known as Clostridium difficile–associated diarrhea (CDAD). Use of Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR lowers the natural stomach acid which normally helps to kill bacteria and this can cause this uncontrollable diarrhea associated with stomach cramps and fever.
Can long term use of Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR cause magnesium deficiency?
Long-term use of Dxlasmart 30 Capsule MR can lower your magnesium levels in patients taking multiple daily doses for a year or longer (at least 3 months). Get your magnesium levels checked at regular intervals.Tell your doctor if you experience seizures, dizziness, abnormal or fast heartbeat, jitteriness, jerking movements or shaking (tremors), muscle weakness, spasms of the hands and feet, cramps, muscle aches or spasm of the voice box.
