Gesfen Tablet is a pain-relieving medicine. It is used to reduce pain and inflammation in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. It may also be used to relieve muscle pain, back pain, toothache, or pain in the ear and throat.
Gesfen Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with another medicine. It should be taken with food. This will prevent you from getting an upset stomach. You should take it strictly as advised by your doctor. Do not take more or use it for a longer duration than recommended by your doctor.

How Gesfen Tablet works
Gesfen Tablet is a combination of two pain relievers (Ibuprofen, Paracetamol) and a stimulant (Caffeine). The pain relievers work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). The presence of Caffeine increases the effectiveness of Paracetamol / Acetaminophen.

Yes, the long-term use of Gesfen Tablet can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects them from damage. Use of painkillers lower the levels of prostaglandins in the body which leads to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended in patients with underlying kidney disease.
