Product introduction

Laritol 1mcg Injection is the active form of vitamin D. It increases the levels of vitamin D in your blood which in turn raises calcium levels in the blood by helping in absorption of more calcium from your intestine. Thus, it is used in the treatment of calcium deficiency and postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Laritol 1mcg Injection is given in women after menopause to strengthen weak bones. It helps in reducing bone damage. It is administered as an injection. It is advised not to self-administer the injection, it should be done by a healthcare professional.

Do not take any other form of vitamin D along with this medicine without consulting your doctor. Drink plenty of fluids such as water to avoid feeling dehydrated. Avoid using antacids as it can cause difficulty for the medicine to absorb.

Use of this medicine may cause reactions such as redness, pain, or swelling at the site of injection. Let your doctor know if you are bothered by it. In patients with kidney disease, dose adjustment may be required. Consult with your doctor. Try to avoid consumption of alcohol while on treatment with this medicine.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Laritol with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Phenobarbitone may reduce efficacy of Calcitriol. Your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations.
Orlistat may decrease the absorption of Calcitriol. Ensure a gap of at least 2 hours between taking Calcitriol and Orlistat. It is recommended to take Calcitriol at bedtime.
Concurrent use may increase the risk of Digoxin poisoning. watch out for symptoms of Digoxin side effects such as impaired vision, skin rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or dizzine... More
Phenytoin may reduce blood levels of Calcitriol. Your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations.
Carbamazepine may reduce efficacy of Calcitriol. Your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations.
