Mebrin AZ 135mg/0.25mg Tablet is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and diarrhea or constipation). It prevents the sudden spasm of muscles to relieve stomach pain and cramps. It also promotes easy passage of gas to reduce stomach discomfort.
Mebrin AZ 135mg/0.25mg Tablet is taken without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are dryness in mouth, constipation, slurred speech, headache, fatigue, irritability, and uncoordinated body movements. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.

What if you forget to take Mebrin AZ Tablet?

- You have been prescribed Mebrin AZ 135mg/0.25mg Tablet for the treatment of pain and other discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome.
- Do not take Mebrin AZ 135mg/0.25mg Tablet at least 2 hours before or after taking other medicines as it may interact with other medicines.
- Inform your doctor if you have an enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma, or trouble passing urine.
- To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
- Keep sipping water or have sugar-free gum in order to relieve dryness in the mouth.
- Drink 6 to 8 full glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation while you are taking this medicine. Do not use a stool softener (laxative) without first asking your doctor.
