Meporva 400 Tablet is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.
Meporva 400 Tablet should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. You should not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.
You may have experience headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and increase in transaminases as side effects of this medicine. These are usually temporary and resolves on its own. However, consult your doctor if they bother you or persist for a longer duration. Diarrhea may also occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools.
You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Special care should be taken in people with kidney problems while taking this medicine.

However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Meporva 400 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Meporva 400 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
What if you forget to take Meporva Tablet?
If you miss a dose of Meporva 400 Tablet, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Quick tips
- You have been prescribed Meporva 400 Tablet for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.
- Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication.
- Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contamination.
- Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.
- Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
- Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.
