Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. It also removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body.

Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It makes you lose excess water through urine, hence try to take it at day time or 4 hours before bedtime to avoid frequent urination at night. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.

Nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, headache, and dizziness are some common side effects of this medicine. Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is important while using this medicine. How Metocard-CHT Tablet ER works

Chlorthalidone is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time, it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart to slow down the heart rate, while Telmisartan is a calcium channel blocker which works by blocking the hormone angiotensin to further relax blood vessels.

Kidney

CAUTION

Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER is not recommended in these patients.

Liver

CAUTION

Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you forget to take Metocard-CHT Tablet ER?

If you miss a dose of Metocard-CHT 25 Tablet ER, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

My blood pressure is 100/160 . I am taking Metocard 50 tablet in the morning every day as per doctor advice from last one year. However, I am not able to get a normal bp of 80/120. Doctor told this condition is primary hypertension. My blood cholesterol levels, blood sugar and all other test results are normal. Let me advise any alternate medicine for the same??.
