Niavas 10mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It also helps to prevent future heart attacks and stroke.

Niavas 10mg Tablet is also used to relieve the symptoms caused by an overactive thyroid gland. It may be prescribed alone or together with other medications. The dose and frequency depend on what you are taking it for and the severity of your condition. It may be taken empty stomach or with a meal, but take it regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit. It may take several weeks before you get the full benefit of this medicine and you may need to take it for the rest of your life. However, it is important to continue taking it even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel ill and if you stop taking it, your condition may worsen. After 1 to 2 weeks of starting Niavas 10mg Tablet your blood pressure may decrease. However, it may take 4 weeks to see full benefits.

Q. Now that my blood pressure has become normal, can I stop taking Niavas 10mg Tablet?

No, you should not stop taking Niavas 10mg Tablet even if you start feeling better. Niavas 10mg Tablet controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. If you stop Niavas 10mg Tablet suddenly, you may increase your chances of having angina, heart attack, or irregular heart-beat. Talk to your doctor who may advise you to decrease the dose gradually over 1 to 2 weeks.

Q. What can happen if I take more than the recommended doses of Niavas 10mg Tablet?

Taking more than the recommended doses of Niavas 10mg Tablet may cause very slow heart-beat, low blood pressure with possible fainting, difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, and acute heart failure. In case you take excess of Niavas 10mg Tablet, contact your doctor immediately.

Q. Can Niavas 10mg Tablet be taken if I am taking ibuprofen?

You have to be careful while taking both ibuprofen and Niavas 10mg Tablet and keep monitoring your blood pressure on a regular basis. The reason being, ibuprofen may interfere with the working of Niavas 10mg Tablet and your blood pressure may increase. Similarly, discontinuing ibuprofen may decrease your blood pressure. This is usually seen in cases where ibuprofen is used for a longer time.
