Phacovisc Injection is a combination of two medicines prescribed to treat osteoarthritis. It reduces pain and swelling by reducing inflammation. It also reduces friction in the joints and makes physical movements more comfortable.
Phacovisc Injection is generally given by a doctor or a nurse. You should not self-administer this medicine. You should use it regularly at a fixed time each day. Taking it at the same time every day will help you remember to take it. It may take several days to get the full benefit of this drug. Do not stop taking the medicine until your doctor tells you it is alright to stop.
The medicine is generally well-tolerated with little or no side effects. However, it may cause injection site reactions such as pain, redness, and swelling in some people. Let your doctor know if you experienced any such side effects. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the side effects.

In Treatment of Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes pain and swelling in the joints of your hands, knees, hips and spine. Phacovisc Injection is most commonly used to treat knee pain caused by osteoarthritis. You might find relief from symptoms within a few days and full benefits usually are reached 3-5 weeks after the treatment. Phacovisc Injection if taken at the start of symptoms of osteoarthritis might also repair any damaged joints and restore mobility. It is recommended to avoid strenuous activities, for approximately 48 hours following the injection. You should talk to your doctor regarding the appropriate time to resume such activities.

How Phacovisc Injection works
Phacovisc Injection is a combination of two medicines: Sodium Hyaluronate and Chondroitin which treat osteoarthritis. Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid which reduces the friction in the joints and helps them to work smoothly. Chondroitin is a dietary supplement and a vital part of cartilage (a smooth elastic tissue that protects the bones and maintains their structure). Taking chondroitin can prevent cartilage breaking down and can also stimulate its repair mechanisms.
