Piriton Expectorant is a combination medicine used to treat cough. It thins the mucus in the nose, making it easier to cough out. This medicine also relieves allergic symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, throat irritation.
Piriton Expectorant is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are allergic reaction and rash. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. This medicine can also cause sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. For cough, cold -- Prevent dehydration. Fluids may help thin secretions and soothe an irritated throat. Dry, hacking coughs respond to honey in hot water, tea, or lemon juice. Drink plenty of fluids to replace those lost from sweating and having a runny nose, get plenty of rest, eat healthily ? a low-fat, high-fibre diet is recommended, including plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. OTC drugs, gargling with salt water and sucking on menthol sweets can help relieve a sore throat and blocked nose, are generally safe for older children and adults to take, but might not be suitable for babies, young children. Avoid applying Vicks VapoRub to babies and toddlers.You should never give children under 4 years of age over-the-counter cough and cold products without checking with your child's doctor. 10 days back, I was having fever , cough and cold with headache and body ache. Took levofloxacin 500mg 5 days plus Sumo for 3 day .Also Solvin decongestant tablet for 4 days. Still having cough and minor cold so from yesterday I started Piriton CS syrup. Do I need to start any antibiotic or is it fine to take Piriton CS syrup for 4 days? If I need to start antibiotic, please advise which one. Thanks.
