Ranoquid 500 Tablet is used for the management of angina (heart-related chest pain). It helps to prevent new attacks of angina but does not stop an acute attack, once started. It relieves chest pain by making the heart work more efficiently.
Ranoquid 500 Tablet should be taken in the dose as advised by your doctor, at the same time each day. It should be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. Your doctor will decide how often you should take this medicine. This may change from time to time depending on how well it is working. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It is preventing future harm. If you stop taking it, your chest pain may come back.

What if you forget to take Ranoquid Tablet?

Q. What are the serious side effects of Ranoquid 500 Tablet?
Ranoquid 500 Tablet may cause changes in the electrical activity of the heart which is known as QT prolongation. Your doctor may get regular tests done to check the electrical activity of your heart. Tell your doctor right away if you feel faint, lightheaded or if your heart starts beating irregularly or fast, as these may be symptoms of QT prolongation. Ranoquid 500 Tablet may also cause kidney failure in patients who already have kidney problems. Therefore, your doctor may need to do tests to check how your kidneys are working.
Q. I started taking Ranoquid 500 Tablet about a week ago. Now I have noticed that my urine has become very dark though I am taking plenty of fluids. Is there anything to worry about?
Urine discoloration could be because of Ranoquid 500 Tablet. You need not worry if you do not have any other symptoms. However, if it still bothers you, you can talk to your doctor who will advise you further.
Q. In case I accidentally take an excess of Ranoquid 500 Tablet, what will happen?
Excess of Ranoquid 500 Tablet can cause nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, double vision, tiredness, severe tremor, confusion, hallucinations, difficulty in speaking and walking and you can even faint. If you have taken an excess of Ranoquid 500 Tablet by mistake, call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical care in a nearby hospital.
Q. Is it safe to take Ranoquid 500 Tablet if I am already taking metoprolol?
Yes, it is safe to take the Ranoquid 500 Tablet and Metoprolol together. Ranoquid 500 Tablet has minimal effect on blood pressure in patients with angina.
Q. I am a diabetic and am taking metformin. My doctor has prescribed Ranoquid 500 Tablet, is it safe to take both together?
If you are taking metformin along with Ranoquid 500 Tablet, you have to be careful since Ranoquid 500 Tablet may increase the levels of metformin in the body which can lead to metformin toxicity. Talk to your doctor who will modify the dose of metformin.
Q. I have been taking simvastatin to keep my cholesterol levels in check. Can I take Ranoquid 500 Tablet with it?
It is recommended not to take simvastatin and Ranoquid 500 Tablet together because it may cause simvastatin toxicity which may lead to symptoms like muscle weakness and soreness, fatigue, decreased urination, etc. Let your doctor know that you are already taking simvastatin. If it is still necessary to take, then take it exactly as advised by the doctor.
