Synflovir Tablet is used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It is also used to treat HIV infection in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. It prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.
Synflovir Tablet is not a cure for HIV/AIDS and only helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body. This helps to lower your risk of getting HIV-related complications and improves your lifespan. It may also be used to prevent HIV infection in some people at high risk. This medicine may be taken with or without food. It is used in combination with other anti-HIV medicines. Taking these medicines regularly at the right time greatly increases their effectiveness and reduces the chances of HIV becoming resistant to them. It is important not to miss doses and to keep taking them until your doctor tells you it is safe to stop.
Common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, trouble sleeping, headache, and rash. These are usually not serious but inform your doctor if they bother you or will not go away. It can also increase the risk of bone loss (osteoporosis) if you take it for a long time. Exercise regularly and take calcium and vitamin D supplements as suggested by your doctor. Some people may put on weight while taking medicines to treat HIV/AIDS.

What if you forget to take Synflovir Tablet?
If you miss a dose of Synflovir Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Does Synflovir Tablet prevent passing of HIV-1 and HBV to others?
In case of HIV-1 infection, Synflovir Tablet may reduce the risk of passing the virus to others, but the chances of infecting others still persist. However, in case of HBV infection, Synflovir Tablet has not proven to reduce risk of transferring the virus to others. Therefore, the patients of both HIV-1 infection and HBV infection should practice safe sex and should not share dirty needles.

Synflovir Tablet is safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Take it exactly as directed and do not skip any dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and let your doctor know if any of the side effects bother you.

Take another tablet of Synflovir Tablet if you vomit within 1 hour of taking it. If you vomit after more than an hour of taking Synflovir Tablet, then you need not take another tablet. Consult your doctor if you have vomiting every time you take Synflovir Tablet or if the vomiting persists for a longer duration.
What should I do if I forget to take Synflovir Tablet?
If you forget to take Synflovir Tablet within 12 hours of the time you usually take it, you should take Synflovir Tablet with food as soon as possible and resume the normal dosing schedule. If you miss a dose of Synflovir Tablet by more than 12 hours and it is almost time for the next dose, you should not take the missed dose and simply resume the usual dosing schedule.
