Product introduction

Telma-D Tablet SR is a combination of two medicines. It helps to control high blood pressure in different ways. If high blood pressure is not treated it can lead to heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure.

You can take Telma-D Tablet SR with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Try to take it at the same time each day. It is important to keep taking this medicine until your doctor tells you not to. It contains a diuretic (water pill) and will make you urinate more so, it is best to avoid taking this medicine within four hours of going to bed. Use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it even if you feel well. High blood pressure does not usually have symptoms and if you stop taking it your risk of heart attack or stroke may increase.

The most common side effect is dizziness. Other side effects nausea, diarrhea, back pain, headache, and cough. Frequent urination is not a side effect of this medicine. It is the purpose of indapamide and helps control your blood pressure. You may experience other possible side effects, but most are rare. Make sure you read the leaflet that comes with your medicines and tell your doctor if you are bothered by side effects or they do not go away. It may be possible to adjust your dose or try a different medicine.

This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and you should ask your doctor before taking it if you have kidney or liver disease, heart trouble or diabetes. Drinking alcohol can further lower your blood pressure and may cause side effects.

Patient concerns

I have been recommended telma -h 40 mg due to high blood pressure. I take my medicine regularly and also keep monitoring blood pressure daily. Over time i have observed that gaps in taking medicine ( even up to 4-5 days ) doesn't elevate my blood pressure , however if this gap in medicine intake becomes 10-15 days the blood pressure shoots up. Due to fear of side effects now I deliberately keep gap of 2-3 days between my medicine but keep monitoring my BP. Is it ok to do keep such a gap in taking medicine as long as blood pressure is monitored and in normal range? Also at my age , will there be significant side effect from telma-h 40 mg

What if Telma-D Tablet SR doesn’t make me feel any better?

High blood pressure does not usually have any symptoms, so you do not feel ill if there is any change in the blood pressure. Therefore, these tablets may not make you feel “better”. This does not mean that you can stop the medicine as they are working in the background to reduce your risk of serious illness.

Can Telma-D Tablet SR affect my fertility or sex life?

Some blood pressure medicines (including water pills like hydrochlorothiazide) may affect a man’s ability to gain or maintain an erection (erectile dysfunction). However, it is thought that other blood pressure medicines can actually improve erectile dysfunction. If you are worried or notice some changes, talk to your doctor. There is no firm evidence which suggests any effect on the fertility of either men or women with the use of Telma-D Tablet SR.

What other lifestyle changes should I make while taking Telma-D Tablet SR?

Lifestyle changes play a major role in keeping you healthy if you are taking Telma-D Tablet SR. Avoid taking excess salt in your diet and find ways to reduce or manage stress in your life.
