Tenfoplus Tablet is used in the treatment of HIV infection and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. It prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells. This stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection.
Tenfoplus Tablet should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Take it with food, as this increases the absorption of the medicine into the body. It is important to keep taking them until your doctor tells you it is safe to stop.
Common side effects of this medicine include headache, diarrhea, nausea, joint pain, abdominal pain, and indigestion. Please consult your doctor if it persists for a longer duration. These are usually not serious but tell your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. Rarely, some people may experience a skin reaction or liver damage. What if you forget to take Tenfoplus Tablet?
If you miss a dose of Tenfoplus Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Does Tenfoplus Tablet prevent passing of HIV-1 and HBV to others?
In case of HIV-1 infection, Tenfoplus Tablet may reduce the risk of passing the virus to others, but the chances of infecting others still persist. However, in case of HBV infection, Tenfoplus Tablet has not proven to reduce risk of transferring the virus to others. Therefore, the patients of both HIV-1 infection and HBV infection should practice safe sex and should not share dirty needles.

Tenfoplus Tablet is safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Take it exactly as directed and do not skip any dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and let your doctor know if any of the side effects bother you.
How should I take Tenfoplus Tablet?

For how long do I need to take Tenfoplus Tablet for HBV infection?

I vomited after taking Tenfoplus Tablet. What should I do?
If vomiting occurs within 1 hour of taking Tenfoplus Tablet then you should take another tablet. However, if you vomit after more than an hour of taking Tenfoplus Tablet then you need not take another tablet. Consult your doctor if you have vomiting every time you take Tenfoplus Tablet or if the vomiting persists for a longer duration.
What should I do if I forget to take Tenfoplus Tablet?
If you forget to take Tenfoplus Tablet within 12 hours of the time you usually take it, take Tenfoplus Tablet with food as soon as possible and resume the normal dosing schedule. However, if it had been more than 12 hours since you have taken the medicine and it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and simply resume the usual dosing schedule.
