Uvanco 250 Capsule is a medicine used to treat a particular type of bloody diarrhea that may rarely happen after the overuse of antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of the causative bacteria known as Clostridium difficile.
Uvanco 250 Capsule is only effective in treating Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea and is not useful for treating other types of diarrhea or any other infection in the body. It may be used for treating adults as well as children. This medicine is taken orally, with or without food. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.
Side effects that may be seen with this medicine include wheezing, kidney (renal) injury, shortness of breath, flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), and decreased blood pressure. Keeping yourself well hydrated will help to prevent any dizziness.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of an allergic reaction to this medication in the past. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using this medicine. Your doctor may regularly monitor your kidney function and hearing function while you are taking this medicine.
