How Amitriptyline + Ketamine works
Amitriptyline + Ketamine is a combination of two medicines: Amitriptyline and Ketamine. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline) that stop the movement of pain signals in the brain. Ketamine is a general anesthetic which works by blocking certain receptors (NMDA) thereby decreasing the sensation of pain. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
