Amivantamab is used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer.

How Amivantamab works

Amivantamab is an antibody that directly blocks a protein (EGFR) on the outside of the cell to stop the tumor from growing and works with the body's immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells with EGFR.

Rash, Infusion site reaction, Paronychia, Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Breathlessness, Nausea, Fatigue, Edema (swelling), Stomatitis (Inflammation of the mouth), Cough, Constipation, Vomiting

  • Before taking Amivantamab, make sure you tell your doctor about any other medications you are taking, including prescription or over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, herbal remedies, etc.
  • After starting your treatment with Amivantamab, you may be at risk of infection; try to avoid crowds or people with colds, and report fever or any other signs of infection immediately to your doctor.
  • Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily to help prevent constipation while taking this medicine.
  • To reduce nausea, take antinausea medications as prescribed by your doctor, and eat small, frequent meals. 
  • To help treat/prevent mouth sores, use a soft toothbrush and rinse your mouth at least 3 times a day with saline water.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you experience a rash, itching, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, swelling of the eyes, mouth, throat, tongue, or lips, dizziness, or a fast heartbeat during or after the administration of Amivantamab.
