Understanding 3D-CT Scan (Any Part)

What is 3D-CT Scan (Any Part)?

3D CT scan is an imaging technique used to get clear pictures of various parts of the body. In this technique, a doughnut-shaped CT machine rotates the X-rays 360 degrees around you to get a detailed 3-dimensional view of your body. Detailed images of organs, tissues, bones, etc., can be obtained, which are then analyzed by doctors to identify any abnormalities. The advantage of CT scan is that it is non-invasive, i.e., it doesn't require any incisions.

Please tell your doctor if you may be pregnant as the CT scan may subject the baby to radiation. Some people may have allergic reactions to the contrast material. Please tell your doctor about any allergies that you may have to drugs, food, or iodine.

What is 3D-CT Scan (Any Part) used for?

  1. • To obtain accurate images of bones as well as most soft tissues • For identificatiion of location and nature of any damage to tissues or bones due to injury or other health conditions • To determine presence and location of tumors or other abnormal tissues and inflammations • To measure bone density and diagnose conditions of the bones • For assessment of the physical structure and condition of brain and to determine problems like bleeding, swelling, etc.
