Understanding Allergy - Dust Mite (Dermatophagoides Pternonyssinus), ImmunoCAP
What is Allergy - Dust Mite (Dermatophagoides Pternonyssinus), ImmunoCAP?
Allergy - Dust Mite (Dermatophagoides Pternonyssinus), ImmunoCAP test measures the IgE-mediated response to inhalant dust mites using the ImmunoCAP technique. When you come in close contact with allergy-causing substances called allergens, the immune system releases immunoglobulin-E (IgE) antibodies to protect the body against specific allergens. This test measures specific allergies (sIgE) against Dermatophagoides pternonyssinus (house dust mites). These domestic mites, comprising both house dust mites and storage mites, are highly allergenic. These are some of the most common causes of allergic disease in the world, affecting the upper and lower airways, eyes, skin, and less frequently, the gastrointestinal tract and subsequent systemic exposure, inducing anaphylaxis. The allergic symptoms may include sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, coughing, wheezing, and difficulty breathing.
