Autoimmune Encephalitis Panel-2, Serum
Understanding Autoimmune Encephalitis Panel-2, Serum
What is Autoimmune Encephalitis Panel-2, Serum?
Autoimmune Encephalitis Panel-2, Serum includes 5 tests to detect the presence or absence of autoantibodies associated with autoimmune encephalitis. These include antibodies directed against NMDA receptors; AMPA (GluR1 & GluR2); GABA B receptor; DPPX; and VGKC (LGI1, ASPR2). This panel is performed for the diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis; differential diagnosis in patients with encephalitis of unknown origin; to detect the antibodies against different neurological receptors; to manage patients on immunotherapy and/or plasmapheresis, and to diagnose peripheral nervous system disease and central nervous system diseases in certain types of tumors. This test should be conducted in people with symptoms like seizures of unknown origin, hallucinations, confusion, neuropsychiatric symptoms; patients with certain tumors showing signs of encephalitis, and neuromyotonia.
