CBCT - Upper Jaw
Understanding CBCT - Upper Jaw
What is CBCT - Upper Jaw?
CBCT (Cone Beam Computerized Tomography) is a radiographic imaging test. It is slightly different from a conventional X-ray. It uses a cone-shaped beam to capture pictures of your dental structures and facial tissues. As it uses a focused X-ray beam, it helps minimise scattered radiation and produce high-quality images.
As the name suggests, CBCT - Upper Jaw creates detailed images of the bones of your upper jaw to evaluate any condition or abnormality there.
Your dentist is likely to suggest a dental CBCT to chalk out an accurate treatment plan for you. It is also used for diagnosing TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder), detecting, treating, and managing jaw tumors, planning a dental surgery, accurate implantation of dental devices, and reconstructive surgery, to mention a few.
