Chlamydia Trachomatis, IgM
Understanding Chlamydia Trachomatis, IgM
What is Chlamydia Trachomatis, IgM?
The Chlamydia Trachomatis IgM test helps detect IgM antibodies that are specific to Chlamydia Trachomatis in the blood serum and allows identification of recent bacterial infections. Apart from diagnosing Chlamydial infections, particularly sexually transmitted ones, the presence of IgM antibodies suggests an active or recent Chlamydia Trachomatis infection. However, it's important to consider other clinical symptoms and additional lab findings for a comprehensive assessment, as IgM antibodies may be present even after the infection has been cured. Getting tested enables healthcare professionals to make accurate diagnoses, and provide appropriate treatment, preventive measures, and counseling to prevent further transmission and possible complications associated with Chlamydia Trachomatis infections.

It is important to get the chlamydia test done because it causes a severe sexually transmitted disease which infects the rectum, urethra or the cervix and can also spread to the throat if there was an oral sex thereby causing abnormal discharge from penis and vagina, itching and burning sensation while urinating and pain while intercourse.
