Understanding Color Doppler Arch Aorta
What is Color Doppler Arch Aorta?
A Color Doppler for the Arch of Aorta helps detect any narrowing or blockage in the arteries that supply blood to the head, neck, and arms. This procedure can detect Deep Vein Thrombosis or blood clots in the leg veins. This test also helps detect the aortic arch syndrome which is caused due to blood clots, trauma, or congenital malformations. The symptoms of aortic arch syndrome are changes in blood pressure, difficulty in breathing, reduced pulse rate, numbness in the arm, and difficulty in swallowing.
In the Color Doppler procedure, a gel is rubbed onto the surface, and a transducer or a small device is pressed against the skin. This sends and receives sound waves that are converted into images that can be observed on the computer.
